Scales work by measuring the weight of refrigerant in a tank while a system is being charged. The less the tank weighs, the more refrigerant is added to the system. Refrigeration charging scales allow for the precise measurement of how much of a certain refrigerant, such as R22 (Freon) or R410A, is added to a system.
